Alexandra believes in having a collaborative relationship with clients to explore and process therapeutic goals. By having a collaborative relationship, clients and therapist can work together to gain insights and promote healing together. Alexandra works collaboratively with clients to create unique therapeutic goals for clients' needs, and by building upon their strengths to foster growth and change. Alexandra’s goals are to promote a comfortable and safe environment to achieve healing through working towards therapeutic goals.
Alexandra has five years of experience working with individuals and families who experience anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, grief, life transitions, and chronic illness. Alexandra is working on obtaining her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) with a Specialization in Medical Family Therapy (MedFT) from National University to ensure competent care is provided to those who experience medical conditions. Alexandra earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and a Minor in Criminology from California State University, Fresno in 2014. Alexandra also received her Master of Science (M.S.) with Distinction in Counseling, option Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling (MFCC) from California State University, Fresno in 2018. Alexandra is trained in the therapeutic modalities of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Alexandra’s focus is to work with individuals and families who experience medical conditions to cope with difficult and stressful transitions by finding acceptance and meaning.
As a therapist who experiences chronic illnesses and a physical disability, Alexandra understands the complexities of navigating life with medical conditions. Alexandra’s hope for clients is to be able to gain coping skills, find meaning and acceptance, and experience healing.
