LICENSED MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST
Yesenia Montaño is a bilingual licensed marriage and family therapist who provides therapy in both English and Spanish. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Counseling from Mount Saint Mary's University. Yesenia has extensive professional experience working in community mental health settings, supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those of Latinx descent and varying socioeconomic statuses. Her expertise spans working with individuals across the lifespan, from children and adolescents to young adults and elders.
A core focus of Yesenia's practice is supporting first-generation BIPOC individuals as they navigate the complexities of breaking free from generational cycles and addressing challenges related to identity, work-life balance, and family dynamics influenced by cultural norms. She cultivates a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can openly explore their feelings and engage in self-reflection. Through a client-centered approach, Yesenia strives to empower each person to navigate life's complexities with confidence, self-compassion, and a strong sense of individuality while remaining connected to their cultural roots.
Yesenia's therapeutic toolkit is supported by certifications in evidence-based modalities such as Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Seeking Safety, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her ultimate goal is to guide clients towards feeling validated, understood, and in harmony with their cultural identities while fostering personal growth, resilience, empowerment, and self-honoring choices.
